Las Lloronas
The piece "Las Lloronas" (the crying women) is a three-minute silent video that was originally shot on 16 mm color reversal film and 16 mm black and white reversal film, and then transferred to digital media. The film’s title references the popular Mexican legend of La Llorona (the weeping women) who was betrayed by love and drowned her children after convincing herself they were the cause of her abandonment. “Las” indicates that there are two women sharing the drink and conversation. The viewer is placed in a position where he/she becomes involved in an intimate exchange.
