Agua Sale
Agua Sale is a documentary piece focusing on the importance placed on water within a specific community in border city of Agua Prieta, Son., Mexico. The neighborhood, known as the colonia, where approximately 2,860 inhabitants reside, currently receive drinking water hauled by water trucks stored in public water tanks. The interviews address the colonia’s relationship to the land and water, as well as their perception of the value of water and its uses.

The video documentary serves as a catalyst to generate a dialog concerning the water dilemma in the colonia, adding to the larger water discourse within the Phoenix community and the surrounding desert landscape.

The video piece is part of an installation projected over shelves empty water bottles. They are displayed as a commoditized, disposable product, while the video highlights the harsh reality of a place that views water as a scarce, irreplaceable source of life.
